A GASTRO pub which opened only three months ago after a £1.3million revamp has been named in the Michelin Food Guide.

The Clog and Billycock, Billinge End Road, Billinge, Blackburn, is one of only eight Lancashire venues to make it into the prestigous guide.

Northcote, Northcote Road, Langho, remains the area’s only venue with a Michelin star, keeping the accolode for the 14th year running.

In addition to the Clog and Bilycock, reviews are also carried in the guide of The Three Fishes, Mitton Road, Mitton, The Highwayman, Burrow, Kirkby Lonsdale, The Red Cat, Blackburn Road, Whittle-le-Woods, The Sparling, Garstang Road, Barton, Eagle and Child, Bispham Green, Duke of York Inn, Brow Top, Grindleton.

The Three Fishes, The Highwayman and the Clogg and Billycock are run by Ribble Valley Inns, which is a partnership between Blackburn brewer Thwaites and Northcote.

Kaye Mathew, sales and marketing manager for the Ribble Valley Inns, said: “We are absolutely over the moon with the review and that Northcote retained the Michelin star for the 14th year.

“The fact that The Clog and Billycock , which opened in September, is now included as well is absolutely great news and joins the other two pubs, the Three Fishes, and the The Highwayman, in the review guide.

“All three of the Ribble Vally Inn pubs will be included in the Michelin pub guide when it comes out.”

Derek Bulmer, editor of Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2009, said: “We can now boast of having a truly mature, rich and exciting restaurant scene.

“However, there is no doubt that 2009 will bring challenging times for hotels and restaurants.

I am hopeful that the hospitality industry will prove to be resilient; that customers continue to support their local pub or restaurant and that dining out will remain part of our lives.”
