A TEENAGER kicked into a coma may have innocently stumbled across his attackers as he made his way home, police have revealed.

15-year-old Gino Hargreaves remains in a serious condition in hospital following a savage assault in Hancock Street, Bank Top, Blackburn, last Thursday night.

Police are following several lines of inquiry but believe that Gino may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Gino, of Sandon Street, remains on a life support machine after being kicked in the head by one of his assailants, causing bleeding on his brain.

The Witton High School pupil had left a youth disco at Liquid nightclub at 8pm and was on Hancock Street at 10.30pm when he was set upon.

Officers are also looking into an alleged dispute inside the teenage disco and calls from the public that a gang of Asian men were causing problems at a petrol station close to where Gino was attacked, and that fireworks were being thrown from a car in the vicinity at around the same time.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Gray said: "We have been given quite a lot of information by the public, but we need more.”

Anybody with any information should call police on 01254 51212 quoting log number 1688 of October 30th or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
