A RIBBLE Valley primary has started the new school year with a glowing report from Ofsted.

Chatburn Primary School was rated a good school with outstanding features by inspectors after they visited at the end of last term.

It is the latest positive report for the Sawley Road school, which was also lauded by Diocesan school inspectors recently.

Ofsted gave particular praise to the “outstanding leadership by the head-teacher” which has led to sustained high standards, and the excellent care, guidance and support for pupils.

As a result of the care they received, the children’s attitude, behaviour and personal development were “exemplary”, the inspectors found, and they said “a strong feature is the excellent progress made by pupils with learning difficulties”.

The “consistently good teaching” is credited for the progress children made from average starting points, and the report says “positive relation-ships throughout the school are a real strength”.

The school’s success is reflected in the fact that when asked by inspectors, they said they would not change anything about their school.

The National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools report praised the supportive family atmosphere of the school community, and the focus on collective Christian worship.

Headteacher Robert Maude said: “We are delighted to receive our glowing reports. I can do no better than quote from the report which says one child commented ‘I always work my socks off’.

“This applies to everyone at our school and is the secret of our continued success.”
