AN ACCRINGTON man is due in court today charged in connection with the rape of a Blackburn schoolgirl.
Imran Pervez, 27, of Pendle Street, Accrington is to to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court charged with rape, sexual assault, threats to kill and child abduction.
Zaheer Khan, 24, of Clifton Street, Accrington was also charged with child abduction and was remanded to appear before Blackburn Magistrates on August 6.
This relates to an incident which happened approximately 6.15am on Saturday when a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in a car off Barden Road, Accrington.
Enquiries continue and police are keen to trace a man who was in the Lynton Road and Fairfield Street area of Accrington around the time of the incident.
Approximately 6.20am, the young girl approached the man, who was wearing an army style top, and asked him if he had a mobile phone.
Police believe he may have some information which would help their investigation and are appealing for him to contact them on 01254 51212.
