Of all the buildings which have disappeared from Blackburn town centre over the years, it’s highly likely that this structure is one of the most missed.
Taken in 1993, this photo shows the spiral ramp on Ainsworth Street which took shoppers to a walkway which connected the market to the shopping centre, which was due to be demolished as the market was being redeveloped.
Youngsters, in particular, loved the spiral.
