Temperatures in Blackburn are set to soar this weekend – and it’s set to be even warmer than the Spanish party capital, Ibiza.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are set to reach 23°C on Saturday, May 11, which is forecast to be one degree warmer than Ibiza.
While it is predicted to be warm, the sunshine is only set to make a fleeting appearance on Saturday. Light showers are forecast on Sunday, May 12.
The fine weather is set to coincide with the weekend’s Highest Point festival in Lancaster.
The festival will take place on May 10 and 11 in the city’s Williamson Park.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Tom Odell and legendary boy band Busted will headline the event.
Eurovision icon Sam Ryder, the sensational Cat Burns, and rising star Caity Baser will also take to the main stage.
Organiser Jamie Scahill said: “We’re so excited for Highest Point to return to Williamson Park and the sunny weather always makes the party even better.
“Safety and security are top priorities for organisers – the festival will have an extensive network of CCTV cameras, a round-the-clock security team and a dedicated welfare tent.
“Over the weekend, festival-goers can see more than one hundred artists across six stages and enjoy top-quality street food, craft beer and cocktails.”
Gok Wan, The Cuban Brothers and The Beatles Dub Club will also perform on the main stage.
Weather conditions are expected to return to a more unsettled pattern as we head into the new working week. Rain and showers will start to move in from the west, due to a developing low-pressure system from the Atlantic.
Deputy chief meteorologist Tony Wisson said: “Many places will start fine and warm on Sunday, though it is likely to become cloudier from the west or southwest during the day. This will be accompanied by scattered showers, which could be heavy with thunder.
“On Monday we're likely to see more widespread and longer-lived spells of rain, some of which will be heavy and thundery. This will also lead to a much cooler feel to the day.”
