Gamers can relax and enjoy their favourite videogames before embarking on their flights as Manchester Airport opens the UK’s first airport Gaming Point.
Manchester Airport has opened a brand-new Gaming Point in Terminal 1 giving video game fans the chance to play their favourite titles – or try out a virtual reality escape room – before their flights.
The state-of-the-art outlet is an airport-first in the UK and features gaming PCs loaded up with a range of top games like Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption 2, Among Us, Hogwarts Legacy, Minecraft, Rocket League and more.
It also has a Formula 1 simulator - complete with steering wheel and pedals - as well as a Nintendo Switch.
Adventurous gamers also have the chance to try out a virtual reality escape room.
The set-up allows people to don a headset and be fully immersed in any one of a range of games – so they can be whisked away to a different world before their flights even take off.
Prices for a gaming session start at just £7.50 for 30 minutes and vary depending on the experience chosen.
Gaming Point is aimed at players of all ages, with age restrictions applying to particular games.
Richard Jackson, Manchester Airport retail director, said: “Here at Manchester Airport, we’re proud to serve the people of the North – offering not only a route network unrivalled outside London, but also an unbeatable passenger experience that really lets people start their holidays at the airport.
“The vast majority of our passengers will wait for less than ten minutes to get to security – most won’t actually queue at all – and that means they will have more time to spend relaxing in our departure lounges.
“That’s why we’ve put a lot of thought into making sure that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
“So, as you’d expect, we have a range of restaurants, cafes, shops and bars – but the Gaming Point is a UK-first and represents something completely new for our passengers.
“It’s a really fun attraction for gamers and non-gamers alike, with a VR escape room, F1 simulator and gaming PCs, consoles and more.
“It means that if you’re a fan of computer games you’ll be able to come in and log on to play your favourite games like Fortnite and Among Us.
“But even if you’re not, it gives a chance to enjoy a new and unique experience while you wait for your flight.
“Terminal 1 is about to have one of its busiest summers ever and we’re really looking forward to seeing people enjoying the Gaming Point.”
Graeme Stewart, director of Gaming Point, said: “I am thrilled to open Gaming Point at Manchester Airport - a first-of-its-kind for UK airports and a concept that truly provides a fun, and innovative experience for passengers to enjoy in Terminal 1.
“Excitingly, with the range of gaming options we have, there is something for every type of gamer!
“Our innovative space is designed to transform the time before boarding into an exciting part of the travel experience and giving passengers the chance to try something they’ve never experienced.”
The Gaming Point is available to passengers flying out of Terminal 1 and can be booked online here: https://gamingpoint.co.uk/locations/manchester/
