This is one of the last looks at the former Princess Theatre in Accrington in which was being demolished in October 1967.
The theatre, which had also operated as a cinema, was badly damaged in a blaze in 1964 and had never reopened. In the shadow of the town’s railway viaduct on Edgar Street it had opened as the Grand Theatre in 1882.
It should not be confused with the Empire Picture Palace which was next door which became the New Princess Cinema in 1965. That building still stands today but the site of the original Princess is now a car park opposite the bus station.
