This photo from 1980 shows a monument which could lay claim to being one of the most discussed in the whole of East Lancashire.
Back then, the Coronation Fountain in the centre of Bacup was threatened by town centre road works. It survived but has been at risk several times since.
The current debate is whether water will actually ever flow in the fountain again. It stopped around 2001.
