Large amounts of cocaine and heroin as well as more than £50,000 in cash were uncovered by police as arrests were made in relation to drug dealing and money laundering.

Two of the four people arrested have since been charged with offences and were remanded to appear in court.

On Wednesday, April 10, a 26-year-old male was stopped in Meadow Street, Preston, and searched under the misuse of drugs act.

Police said he was found to have several wraps of cocaine on him, as well as two mobile phones and an extendable baton.

He was arrested but has been bailed while the investigation is ongoing.

The following day, on Thursday, April 11, officers were back on Meadow Street where they stopped a second male under the same act.

Police uncovered a “large quantity” of cocaine in his rucksack, and a search of his address uncovered further cocaine, cannabis, and several thousands of pounds in cash.

Marquis Africa, 27, of Owtram Street, Preston, was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A and money laundering, and was remanded.

On Friday, April 12, officers stopped a vehicle on Hawarden Road in the Fishwick area of Preston.

The driver was found to have no license or insurance, and a search of his person uncovered large quantities of heroin and crack cocaine.

He was arrested and addressed searched also uncovered £50,000 in cash which was seized.

A 33-year-old female was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

Michael Brennan, 43, of Broughton Street, Preston, was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, money laundering, and driving offences, and was remanded.

The 33-year-old female has been released on bail.
