Two people had to be cut from their vehicles following a crash between a car and a van in Rawtenstall.

The two-vehicle crash happened in Haslingden Old Road at around 9.45am on Friday (March 29).

Fire crews from Rawtenstall and Bacup were called to the scene and had to cut both casualties from their vehicles.

They were then handed over to North West Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire engines from Rawtenstall and Bacup attended a road traffic collision involving two cars.

"Fire crews extricated two casualties using Holmatro cutting equipment.

"The two casualties were handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service.

"Crews were in attendance for approximately 30 minutes."

Lancashire Police said they attended the crash where they found the car had overturned.

They described the incident as a "minor injury" crash.
