First on the list is Roomali, which can be found at The Woodlands in Preston New Road.

The restaurant scores 4.5 stars out of five based on 326 TripAdvisor reviews and is rated 19th out of 137 total restaurants in Blackburn.

One review said: “Thank you Roomali for your great hospitality. The food was lovely and the welcome we got from the staff was second to none.”

Another said: “We went for a 50th birthday and the service was great, as well as the food.

"We enjoyed ourselves and staff were really helpful. The price is also very reasonable.”

Kebabish

Next up is Kebabish in Whalley New Road, which blends traditional Indian cuisine with other Asian dishes as well as barbecue.

Kebabish also scores 4.5 stars out of five and is ranked third out of 28 Indian restaurants in the town, as well as sixth overall.

It also featured on TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice list for 2023.

One review said: “Food was delicious, very generous portions and so tasty, would recommend 100 per cent and will definitely be returning.”

Another said: “Great flavoursome food, very authentic dishes, and plenty of it.

"Walked away feeling very satisfied. Staff were great and made sure there was plenty of food and drinks.”

Haweli

The first of two five-star offerings, Haweli is based in Higher Eanam.

The restaurant ranks 11th overall for restaurants in Blackburn and scored five out of five stars in the food, service, and atmosphere categories.

As well as traditional Indian food, they also serve vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

One review said: “Just come home from a meal at Haweli with my husband. It was our first time visiting.

"The food was absolutely amazing and the service just as good. We had a really enjoyable time and will definitely be back.”

Another said: “Lovely spot with lovely food, amazing service. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to go for a quick dinner meal.”

Thira

Thira, in Darwen Street, is another five-star rated option and is ranked third out of 137 Blackburn restaurants.

It’s also another to feature on the Travellers’ Choice list for 2023.

One review said: “We took our vegan/vegetarian neighbours for lunch. They had never eaten South Indian food.

"It was a wonderful experience for them and for us too. The food was excellent and the service was great. We highly recommend it.”

Another said: “What a treat. Unassuming southern Indian restaurant near to Blackburn Cathedral that serves delicious food from a wide-ranging and interesting menu.

"Wonderfully polite and attentive staff and a charming owner who proudly showed us his latest award which is so well deserved.”

Last up is Spice Garden, which can be found in Redlam, close to Witton Park.

Spice Garden ranks 20th of out all 137 restaurants in Blackburn listed on TripAdvisor, and scores 4.5 stars out of five based on 128 reviews.

Originally Achari, it closed down in August but reopened a couple of months later with new décor, a new menu, and a new name.

One review said: “Superb food and service, fully recommend. Staff were lovely and so was the ambience.”

Another said: “Superb service, fantastic décor, and amazing food. I will definitely be coming back the next time I come to Blackburn watching Coventry City.”
