A man is in hospital after a crash in Preston today (March 20).

Officers were called to Ribbleton Avenue, at its junction with Acregate Lane, at around 7.55am.

A Toyota van had crashed into a pedestrian crossing traffic light.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital and is currently in a serious condition.

Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch with police.

A police spokesperson said: “Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a collision in Preston.

"Officers were called at 7.55 am today (March 20) to Ribbleton Avenue at its junction with Acregate Lane, to reports of a road traffic collision.

"They found that a Toyota Panel van had collided with a pedestrian crossing traffic light.

"The driver of the van, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital and is in a serious condition.

"His family is being supported by specially trained officers."
