Two high street giants have confirmed they will be taking up sites at a new £220 million Lancashire business park due to open next year.

Sausage roll aficionados Greggs and coffee connoisseurs Costa Coffee have been announced as the latest firms to secure premises at Botany Bay Business Park.

Central Co-op, which has more than 400 sites mainly in the Midlands and East Anglia, will also be opening a store on the site.

They will take up more than 7,000sq ft at the Chorley development, being created by FI Real Estate Management, to keep workers at the development fed, watered and caffeinated.

Due to open in early 2025, it's expected Botany Bay Business Park will be home to more than 1,000 jobs once the site, just off Junction 8 of the M61, is completed.

A total of 33 premises, with a total area of 405,386sq ft will form phase one of the business park, with work on phase two set to begin soon after permission for the extra site, across the canal, was secured in December. That will house an additional 322,560sq ft of industrial space.

Tim Knowles, founder and managing director of FIREM, said: “It’s fantastic news that national chains Costa Coffee, Greggs and Central Co-op are taking space at Botany Bay Business Park.

"These businesses will not only bring new jobs to the area, they will provide a variety of amenity to the community we create at Botany Bay Business Park and will also offer local residents and employees brand new food and beverage options, conveniently located just off the motorway.

“It’s encouraging to see interest really ramping up on the site now and as we near the completion on our first four blocks, we are seeing first-hand how the site is addressing the need for high-quality industrial, warehousing and commercial space in Chorley.”

Susan Agnew, acquisition manager at Costa Coffee, said: “We're delighted to confirm that a brand-new Costa Coffee drive-thru store will open on Botany Bay Business Park later this year.

"The store will create a number of new job opportunities for members of the local community and is the perfect space for customers who live and work in the area, or who are just passing by, to enjoy their favourite cup of coffee in-store or conveniently on the go.”
