A nursery in Rishton has announced that it will be closing in March.

Tree Toppers Nursery, on Henry Street, told the Lancashire Telegraph that it will be closing on March 15.

Families and staff have been offered alternative placement at neighbouring nurseries, Little Sparks in Clayton-Le-Moors and Conkers Day Nursery in Langho.

Staff have not yet revealed details for the nursery’s closure.

Emma Collins, operations director, said: “I would like to confirm that sadly, Tree Toppers Nursery in Rishton will be closing on Friday, March 15.

“All of our families and staff have been offered alternative placement in one of our neighbouring children's day nurseries, Little Sparks in Clayton-Le-Moors and Conkers Day Nursery in Langho.”

According to the nursery’s website, the site has been around for nearly 20 years. Staff provide care for children aged zero to five years.

At the nursery’s most recent Ofsted inspection, in December, it was rated as requires improvement.

The nursery’s website said: “We have been caring for and educating Rishton’s children for nearly 20 years.

“We are based in a pretty Victorian home with large gardens and big airy rooms which are decorated in a homely, bright and cheerful way.

“The nursery is a short distance from the local train station, and is also a short walk from bus stops, with links to Blackburn and Accrington.

“All staff are highly trained, with qualification in childcare and paediatric first aid.  The standard of care, equipment and buildings are thoroughly checked by all appropriate agencies including the local authority.”
