Children from across the Northwest will find out more about climate change at a Sustainability Learning Conference at Ewood Park.

Following Green Football Weekend, Blackburn Rovers have announced the date for this year’s event which is being hosted by the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust (BRCT).

The conference is due to take place on Thursday, June 27.

BRCT has hosted the event since 2017, with hundreds of pupils coming together at the Ewood Park stadium to learn about the importance of sustainability.

The conference is organised by the Lancashire Schools Sustainability Forum in close association with the Sustainability Learning CIC.

The aim is people to learn new skills and develop knowledge of how to live in an eco-friendlier environment.

The annual conferences are for both primary and secondary school students, and opportunity for environmental education learning outside the classroom.

More than 5,000 students from more than 200 schools have engaged so far since the conference was first hosted at Blackburn Rovers.

Head of operations at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, Martin Winters, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming over 600 school children from Blackburn and across Lancashire to Ewood Park in June, for the annual Sustainability Learning Conference Northwest.

“Blackburn Rovers Community Trust has been working in partnership the Lancashire Schools Sustainability Forum and Sustainability Learning CIC since 2017 to host this fantastic event, which offers a variety of interactive ‘market stalls’ and classroom activities around environmental awareness.”
