We love to find lovely venues to socialise with family and friends in the 'Pub of the Week' feature.

This time, we have chosen a popular place in Rawtenstall that has recently been renovated to find out the reasons behind their success.

Name of the pub: The Whitchaff, Rawtenstall.

Address of the pub: The Whitchaff, 371 Bury Road, Rawtenstall, BB4 6EH.

It is described as 'A great food pub with fantastic views of Rossendale Valley'.

Lancashire Telegraph: Their website says: "Once an old coaching house, The Whitchaff can be found close Rawtenstall and Edenfield.

"It's a traditional pub, serving delicious pub food.

"Award-winning cask ales are served with continental lagers, wines and spirits.

"From the beer garden there's panoramic views of the Rossendale valley."

The Whitchaff serves delicious home-cooked food seven days a week.

They try to cater for everybody's needs and offer four different menus including gluten free, vegetarian and plant based, as well as traditional pub classics.

Their menu consists of items such as cod, king prawn and crayfish tacos, homemade Lancashire cheese and black pudding potato cakes and chicken and chorizo carbonara.

Beautiful hikes and walks are also easily available from the pub, located in the Rossendale Valley, available as a treat as a post-hike celebration.

TripAdvisor user Wendy W left a five star review for the pub and said: "What a gem this place is.

"I had tomahawk pork, absolutely delicious, my sister had steak and blue cheese pie and she said its been a long time since she's had such a nice pie.

"Very nicely presented and staff were very helpful. We were lucky to get a table so I'd advise booking. We will definitely be visiting again."

Lancashire Telegraph: Jen N wrote: "Staff are always amazing and can’t do enough to help.

"The place is lovely inside, cosy and on a nice day the views from the outdoor area are amazing.

"The food is the best in the area by far. Always been unreal and so tasty.

"The kids menu is always a winner and the DIY ice cream goes down a treat every time.

"Our new go to pub for a family tea."
