New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 16 of Blackburn with Darwen establishments, the Food Standard’s Agency’s website shows.

Examining food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety, inspectors have rated three venues a five out of five hygiene rating, eight a four rating, four a three rating, and one a two out of five.

The inspection report states the hygienic food handling is very good whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety are good.

Maddie's Cafe at (Inside Next Level Fitness) in Charnley Street, Mill Hill, was also rated five on August 7.

The inspection report states the eatery is good in all areas.

MeeMaws @ The Exchange in King William Street, Blackburn, was rated a five after inspection on November 23.

The Food Standards Agency’s website report states both the hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building are very good whilst the management of food safety is good.

Eight establishments have been awarded four out of five hygiene ratings.

K2 Taj Chippy, a takeaway in Plane Street, Blackburn was given a score of four on October 6.

Easy Coffee LTD, at Darwen Leisure Centre in The Green, Darwen was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on October 10.

The Tramway Cafe, in Cemetery Road, Darwen was given the score after assessment on October 12, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

Bellagio, in Darwen Street, Blackburn, was rated a four on October 21.

Muffins Restaurant in Town Hall Street, Blackburn, received a rating of four after inspection on October 20.

Bamboo House in Fore Street, Lower Darwen was also rated a four on October 25.

Finally, Top Nosh, at Merchant House in Croft Head Road, Blackburn was handed a two-out-of-five rating after assessment on October 6.

The inspection report states both the management of food safety, and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building are generally satisfactory whilst improvement is necessary for the hygienic food handling.
