This mill made the headlines for all the wrong reasons back in 1990.
The mill, on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at Barnoldswick was owned by Silentnight but, at the time, was unused.
That made it the ideal site for an illegal Acid House party, the overnight dance parties which had made East Lancashire the unofficial UK capital of the UK rave scene for a few brief month.
Police were tipped off that the mill would be attracting party goers from across the North West and they stepped in before the party could be set up.
East Lancashire’s many empty industrial buildings were seen as ideal locations for the raves.
