An East Lancashire man will be sentenced early next year after pleading guilty to causing death by careless driving.
Antony Whitaker, 78, of Richmond Road, Barnoldswick, has appeared at Preston Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
The offence relates to an incident on June 25, 2022, where Whitaker was driving a Volkswagen Touran on Shard Road, Poulton-le-Fylde.
Prosecuting barrister Paul Cummings said Whitaker performed an “unsafe manoeuvre” which resulted in the death of Mark Butterworth.
Whitaker pleaded guilty to the offence and was granted unconditional bail, during which he will still be able to use his driver’s license so he can attend medical appointments.
A sentence hearing will take place on January 17, 2024.
