Thirteen drivers have been issued fines for entering a pedestrian area at an unpermitted time.

Police received numerous complaints last Saturday (October 14) that cars were being driven into the pedestrian zone without displaying a blue disabled badge or unloading for a business.

Lancaster Music Festival made the city centre busy on the day the fines were issues.

Complaints were received from local businesses and police aimed to keep the pedestrian areas of the city safe.

Thirteen fines were issues during the day to drivers who entered the pedestrian area either without a blue badge or were unloading.

A police spokesperson said: “Vehicles are not authorised to drive within the city centre due to the areas being a pedestrian zone.

“There is no permitted access for vehicles, unless you are displaying a disabled badge and looking for parking or a loading vehicle between 5pm and 10am.

“We will be keeping an eye on this area.”
