A much-loved nightclub has had a full rebrand and has changed its name.

Whalley’s Rendezvous, affectionately known as Rios, has changed its name to Alta, and re-launched with a full weekend of free live music on September 22.

The new incarnation, refurbished premises and music were warmly received by the thousands of people who attended across the weekend, with entertainment provided by I’AM Gallagher, Appy Mundays and Edit presenting Defected, as well as guest Ibiza DJs.

This was followed by the 50th anniversary celebration of Northern Soul Russ Winstanley's Wigan Casino Roadshow with Alan King and Motown guest singer Paul Davies on the Sunday.

Under the same ownership as Rios, alta is being run by Becky and Jonny Crompton, who met as childhood sweethearts and are now married with three children.

Becky and Jonny have strong values and ambition to deliver a high-quality experience in every respect.

Jonny said: “We are all very excited and welcome one and all to experience alta for themselves. Lots of enjoyable evenings already booked in and plenty more to come.”

Alta now offers something for everyone - live music on a Friday, club classics and guest DJs on a Saturday and more specialist music on a Sunday.

The ethos of the new brand is quality music, great experiences and memorable nights regardless of age and lifestyles.
