On the first weekend of November, the Gruffalo is venturing from the deep dark wood to explore the East Lancashire Railway (ELR).

It's set to be a great day for all, with fun fair rides that are all suitable for toddlers and the ELR’s Trackside pub, which has a kids menu as well as traditional pub grub.

There will also be the opportunity to meet the Gruffalo as he visits the Bury Transport Museum, alongside many other great activities throughout the day.

Mike Kelly, Chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, said: “The Gruffalo began as a figment of the imagination, and we will be bringing him to life for children, and those who are children at heart.

"This is the first time the Gruffalo has come to East Lancashire Railway, and it will be a fun-filled day out for the whole family."

Customers can also take a photo with the iconic character if they book a time slot via the East Lancashire Railway website in advance.

Tickets cost £16 for adults and £15 for children for the whole day.

This includes unlimited rides on the fun fair, craft activities and train rides to get stuck into.

You can also get the Gruffalo’s terrible tusks and teeth painted on your face, all within the ticket price.

No day at East Lancashire Railway would be complete without exploring the beautiful Irwell Valley on one of the heritage trains.

There’s no need to book this separately, just pick a time that suits you on the day.

There are accessible routes around Bury station and the Transport Museum.

This family friendly event is taking place on November 4 and 5, with multiple time slots on each day.
