This is a building which, sadly, will be all too familiar to families all over East Lancashire but when this photo was taken in February 1956 it was still very much under construction.
As many Looking Back readers will have spotted, this is what was then the new crematorium at Pleasington Cemetery. The crematorium is still in use today.
In June it had to close after a fire started by a discarded cigarette but it should be fully operational again next month
