Detectives investigating the death of a Lancaster man, who was found dead in his flat,  have released footage of his last confirmed sighting.

Police were called to a flat in Regent Street, Lancaster, at 11.04am on Tuesday, July 25, after reports that 50-year-old Damian Jackson had been found dead at the property.

A Home Office post-mortem established that he died of multiple injuries.

The release of the footage came as his family paid an emotional tribute to Damian who they described as ‘humble and gentle’.

In a statement, his family said: “The whole family is beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved son and brother.

“Damian was humble and gentle, well loved by many across Lancaster, with a great sense of humour. He is much missed by us all and his death has left an enormous hole in our lives”.

Damian’s last confirmed sighting was at 10.18am on Sunday, July 23, at the Aldi store, in Aldcliffe Road, Lancaster.

The video footage released is from outside Aldi.

Police want to hear from anyone who remembers seeing him in the shop that morning or after that time.

Officers also want you to get in touch if you saw anything unusual or suspicious in Regent Street or the surrounding area between July 23 and 25.

Anyone who has dashcam footage from the area between those dates has been asked to contact police.

Detective Chief Inspector Jane Webb of Lancashire Police’s Force Major Incident Team, said: “We continue to appeal for information and help from the public as we look to identify who was responsible for Damian’s death.

“We have a large team of officers working around the clock on this investigation. “Any piece of information -whether large or small - will be of assistance to us. We think someone in the local community will have answers.

“We want justice for Damian and his family”.
