This imposing building was a former home to one of the first Mayors of Blackburn but do you recognise it?
Taken in 1971, the photograph shows Griffin Lodge which had been built by Thomas Dugdale, a doctor who had become a highly successful mill owner. He was the town’s third mayor serving from 1853-55 and who died in 1875.
Grade II Griffin Lodge would later become a base for the museum service but was later left empty.
Serious fires in 2013 and 2015 left the building a shell and last year plans were approved to convert it into a health hub
