Three detached homes are to be built on the site of a former garden centre following full approval from the council.

Howard Rigg of H.Rigg Properties Ltd applied in April for planning permission to build three homes with private garages on land at a former garden centre in Skipton New Road, Foulridge, close to Foulridge Upper Reservoir.

Residential consent had already been granted for one large house at the site, which is currently vacant, but now, since the council approved the plans, three new properties each with four bedrooms will be built.

A planning statement submitted to Pendle Council read: “The application site comprises a previously developed parcel of land, which was originally used as a garden centre but is now vacant.

“The land benefits from its own dedicated, gated access, set back from Skipton New Road (the A56) with splayed entrance walls.

“The council’s online planning records show a recent application of relevance to erect a single dwelling at the site.

"This was approved in March 2022 and the consent remains extant at the time of writing.

“The proposals seek to erect three high quality, detached dwellings served by the existing vehicular and pedestrian access from Skipton New Road.

“Each property would be afforded dedicated curtilage areas commensurate with their size, which would accommodate lawned garden areas and the provision of on-site parking to the front of each plot.

“Existing boundary treatments will be maintained where possible (and protected during construction) and supplemented by new landscaping where required.”

A report to the council recommended the plans for approval, with the decision being passed on June 12.
