A young actor from Burnley has made an appearance in ITV autobiographical comedy Changing Ends, which is based on comedian Alan Carr’s life.

Primary school pupil Taylor Fay plays Alan’s younger brother, Gary Carr, on the show which aired at the start of June.

Taylor’s mum, Laura Bell, said everyone is proud of his acting on the show.

She said: “Everyone is proud of Taylor and everyone agrees that Changing Ends is fabulous.

“The initial reaction to the show has been wonderful and it’s been lovely for everyone involved. It felt special when we were on set so it’s great to see that echoed in everyone’s response.

“We got to meet Alan on set and he was so lovely. The first question he asked was what his favourite flavour of crisps was.”

Taylor even attended the London premiere of the show.

She said: “He loved the show. He didn’t talk about his performance or mention himself to be honest – but he did tell the other kids they were ‘well good’.”

Taylor is no stranger to the camera and has appeared in other television shows in the past, including Netflix’s Shadow and Bone, an American fantasy based on a series of books by Leigh Bardugo called the Shadow and Bone trilogy.

He plays the role of Alby Rollins and spent three weeks filming the show in Budapest, Hungary, last March.

Taylor also appeared in Last Light, a mini-series starring Matthew Fox (Lost) and Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey).

He plays a leading role in this show, portraying the character of Sam Yeats.

Laura said: “It was great for our friends and family to finally be able to see the show and we have had such a great response to Taylor’s portrayal of Sam.

“We were actually on a plane heading to Los Angeles at the time it released here so spent that weekend receiving lots of lovely messages about the show.”

Changing Ends is co-written by the BAFTA award winning Alan Carr and the Scottish BAFTA & RTS award winning Simon Carlyle (Two Doors Down), based on Alan’s own life in Northampton in the 1980s growing up as the son of a fourth division football manager.

Alan stars as himself in present day, while taking on the role of young Alan is rising star Oliver Savell.

The comedy series will be more than just a trip down memory lane, it’s a love letter to a time and a town where things weren’t always so inclusive. Told with warmth and wit, it follows Alan’s journey through puberty, adolescence, and finally self-discovery, all against the backdrop of Thatcher’s Britain.

All episodes of Changing Ends are available to watch on ITVX.
