A BLACKBURN Rovers fan's newborn son is already breaking records - as a hospital's heaviest baby.

East Lancashire man Paul Bolton, 34, was amazed when girlfriend Samantha Caulfield, 22, gave birth to a baby boy weighing a whopping 11lb 7oz - the biggest baby to be born at Torbay Hospital, Devon, this year.

Paul, who now lives in the south west but still has family in his home town of Blackburn, said that his baby son, Cameron Bolton, was doing well.

And he admitted that even though the proud parents were told to expect a 'biggy' - nothing could prepare them for the final weight the youngster eventually weighed in at.

He said: "He's actually quite long and lean. He doesn't look like a big baby. He has Samantha's looks and my height, which if it had been the other way round he would not have thanked me for.

"I reckoned the figure might even go to nine, but it was a real shock to see he was 11lb 7oz. He's lovely - and he's a champion already"

And 6ft 4in Paul, who became a dad for the first time with the arrival of Cameron, said his son would be brought up to support his beloved Blackburn Rovers.

He said: "I am a mad crazy Rovers fan, as will baby Cameron, that's for sure."

Born on June 12, Cameron was officially Torbay's biggest baby of the year and Paul thanked all the hospital staff for making sure Cameron and his mum came through the birth unscathed.

A Torbay Hospital spokeswoman said: "We think this is the largest baby at the hospital so far this year.

"Our midwives say we get about one of this size every year. We wish the mother and father well."

The youngster was born by caesarean section and the couple are hoping to move into their new home in St Marychurch in the next few weeks.
