UPDATE - the road is now open
A road closure has been put in place due to a crash.
Police have closed Walverden Road in Briefield and say the road will "remain closed for some time".
It is not clear how many vehicles are involved in the crash or whether anyone has been injured but it is thought the incident took place just before lunch time today (Monday, May 29).
A spokesperson for the police said: "We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on Walverden Road, Brierfield, Nelson.
"The road will be closed for some time, we will update you once it has re opened.
"Thank you for your patience."
Lancashire Police have been contacted for comment.
