Crowds enjoyed glorious sunshine and some fantastic entertainment at Darwen Live.

The annual event held in Market Square attracted thousands of people from across the region.

As well as performances throughout the day, festivalgoers were treated to everything from Greek cuisine to Dutch pancakes from the range of stalls at the event.

On Saturday the main stage was taken up by Leah Haworth, Body Water, Kerrang’d, Inciders and Kind-Hearted Thieves, among others.

The Blow Monkeys headlined during the evening on Saturday as more people descended on the town centre.

Darwen Library Theatre hosted the second stage and Sunbird Records and other spaces also had bands performing throughout the day.

Over the weekend organisers had looked to showcase the talents of local bands as much as they could.

Darwen Live made a triumphant return last year following postponement during Covid.

“There is a great atmosphere today and the weather has certainly helped.

“I have been here when it has been a washout in the past. We never miss it.”

Marcia Williams said: “It is the one event of the year where the whole town is out.

“It really puts Darwen on the map doesn’t it?

“We get to meet people we have not seen for ages and also people from other towns not just Blackburn.”
