Police officers visited a Brierfield charity on Thursday (May 25) and gave one person a birthday surprise.

Officers visited Team Rise in Brierfield, a project which supports adults with learning disabilities, autism and those who are vulnerable, socially isolated or lonely.

PC Mark handcuffed birthday boy Scott Nicholson, who attends Team Rise and has Down's syndrome.

A police spokesperson said: “Here is PC Mark handcuffing birthday boy Scott at Team Rise.

“We were welcomed into the Team Rise centre at Brierfield today and met the absolutely lovely staff and members.

“We were blown away with how welcomed we were and with the enthusiasm shown towards us as police officers.

“We held a question and answer session, showed the members our vehicles and police safety equipment.

“So to the Team Rise family thanks from Pendle Police you are all amazing.”

A spokesperson for Team Rise said: “We had so much fun day today.

“The effort and generosity from the different police forces that came to spend time with us explaining the different roles.

“Local police, task force, armed response and police community support officers, thank you so much.”
