Another dispersal order was made in a town centre after ‘groups of men were seen fighting with weapons’.
Police in Brierfield issued another section 60 dispersal order last night (May 21) and into this morning following reports of anti-social behaviour and men fighting with weapons earlier this week.
Patrols have been increased in the area and specialist teams have been brought in as police try to target incidents in the town.
Last night, a spokesperson for the police said: “We can confirm that a further Section 60 has been authorised this evening, through to tomorrow evening - meaning we can and will stop and search people and vehicles without suspicion.
“These powers are in place to prevent crime and disorder and also to keep you feeling safe.
“We will not tolerate criminal behaviour and anyone intent on disorder can expect to find themselves in a cell this evening.
“Teams remain in the area, including our mounted unit, so if you have concerns don't hesitate to approach them for a chat.
“You can also contact us on 101 quoting log 1161 of May 19.”
