Update: The road has now reopened.

Police closed a road after a crash in Brierfield this morning.

At around 6am today, a crash happened on Halifax Road and officers have closed the road while they deal with the incident.

The road has been closed at the cross junction with High Kings Causeway and Higher Reedley Road.

There is heavy traffic building in the area as a result of the crash.

It is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash and whether anyone has been injured.

Traffic monitoring website, INRIX states: “Road closed and heavy traffic due to crash on Halifax Road both ways between Walverden Road and A682 Colne Road.”

A spokesperson for the police said: “Good morning, we have had to close Halifax Road Brierfield at the cross junction with High Kings Causeway and Higher Reedley Road due to a road traffic collision.

“We will update as soon as the road is cleared.”

Police have been contacted for more information.
