A hotel is seeking permission to build an extension to house a dining or lounge area.

Mytton Fold Hotel, in Langho, has submitted a planning application to Ribble Valley Borough Council, asking for permission to build an extension.

The extension would be by the reception area and restaurant area of the building where there is currently an outdoor seating area.

A statement from a planning document reads: “The building is a large hotel and golf course.

"It was originally a farmhouse and barn which has been substantially extended over the years.

“The proposed building is surrounded on three sides by the existing property, this area is currently used for outdoor seating day and evening and is accordingly well lit.”

The glass walls will remain in place with the extension being built on the side of them.

The plans show the space will allow for 12 tables and a fireplace to be installed.

The building will be around 100 square feet in size according to documents.

In 2019, the previous owners of the hotel, Lilian Hargreaves with David Hargreaves, Carole Maher and Barbara Bryan, ran into difficulties with the business, later putting it into administration with a price tag of £1.7 million.

The venue, which started out as a bed and breakfast in the early 1980s, has 43 rooms and a 65 seat restaurant, bar and lounge.

It was saved just a few days later by Hyndburn-based Senator International, a furniture giant.

The site remains a popular wedding venue in the Ribble Valley.

The site also has a gold club but this was not affected as it is operated separately.
