Residents are being asked to provide feedback on a new development consisting of around 50 homes.

Homebuilder Northstone, part of regeneration business Peel L&P, is inviting people to have their say on plans for new energy efficient and affordable homes in Edenfield, Rossendale, complete with community gardens.

Northstone has plans for a sustainable community of approximately 50 homes at Blackburn Road, 30 per cent of which would be available for shared ownership and affordable rent.

The two to five-bed homes would be built alongside open space and new community gardens for people to come together and grow their own.

Northstone would also create a dedicated car park and drop-off space for use by the school and wider community on land owned by Peel L&P with possibilities for a nature-inspired park or outdoor play areas on land near the school.

All homes would feature built-in technology and better insulation to help residents keep fuel bills down.

The land off Blackburn Road has been identified as a key site for housing in Rossendale Council’s Local Plan.

Development manager at Northstone, Bernadette Barry, said: “At Northstone we consider the environments and communities that surround our developments to be just as important as the homes themselves.

“For this reason, our proposals for this site aim to go beyond the requirements of planning policy and help tackle some of the parking and traffic issues in the village.

“We’re looking forward to speaking to local people in more detail about the plans and how these can be developed to suit their needs and would encourage people to have their say as part of the public consultation before we submit plans to the council.”

As part of its commitment to community consultation, Northstone is asking residents in Edenfield to attend a public exhibition, outlining its vision for the site.

Alternatively, the plans can be viewed online at www.northstoneedenfield.co.uk where a digital feedback form is also available.

The in-person event will be held on Saturday February 11 between 11am and 4pm at Edenfield Community Centre, Exchange Street, Edenfield.
