A well-loved stage show involving an ogre, a donkey and a swamp is set to be performed at the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre in Oswaldtwistle this month.

Young people from the Civic Arts Centre will take to the stage and proudly present Shrek the Musical Jr from January 12 to 14.

Based on the much loved DreamWorks Animation movie franchise and the book by William Steig, in the land of Far Far Away, Shrek the Musical Jr is presented through special arrangement with and all authorised materials supplied by the Music Theatre International.

It tells the story of how grumpy solitary ogre Shrek, accompanied by his annoying but loveable friend Donkey, are sent to rescue the Princess Fiona from a castle guarded by a fearsome dragon by the land's Lord, but the rescue - and journey home - aren't straightforward.

The show will be performed by budding young Lancashire actors aged 10 to 18, following the classic tale.

Performances will start at 7.30pm each night and all tickets are priced at £12.
