A WOMAN who assaulted four police officers woke up in a cell the following morning and realised her life had turned upside down.

Blackburn magistrates heard family support worker Hayley Massey was worried about losing her good name, worried about the shame for her family and worried about losing her job.

Massey, 33, of Whalley Road, Ramsbottom, pleaded guilty to four charges of assaulting an emergency worker.

She was fined £300 with £85 costs and £120 victim surcharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation to each of the officers.

Sameena Chaudhry, prosecuting, said officers were dealing with a possible drink driver of a car in which Massey had been a passenger.

Massey interfered and kicked an officer in the groin.

Another officer was kicked to the right leg and his foot stamped on and the third officer kicked to both knees.

Massey was arrested and taken to the police station where the fourth officer was kicked to the leg.

John Rusius, defending, said his client had enjoyed a night out and got a lift home.

“The vehicle was stopped and the driver was breathalysed.

“For some reason, which she can’t explain, she wanted to see what was going on and approached the police car.

“When she opened the door the officer took hold of her and she reacted.”

He said two more officers arrived and they were kicked and a fourth officer was kicked at the police station.

“She woke up in the morning and realised her life had been turned upside down,” said Mr Rusius.

“She was ashamed of what she had done and after she was released sent an apology to the officers involved.”
