An ‘unsung hero’ at a manufacturing company has been crowned among the best in the UK manufacturing industry.

Chris Cassidy, a Quality Assurance Technician at BMP, was named in The Manufacturer Top 100 2022, a showcase of those who go the extra mile.

Chris, who has been with the Altham business for two years, was nominated in the ‘Unsung Hero’ category due to the knowledge and support he has shown since being at BMP.

Nominated by their peers and judged by an expert panel, the 100 people singled out represent the very best of the UK manufacturing industry.

Chris said: “It was a surprise to be nominated but to actually win and be recognised in this way, especially by my peers is just fantastic.

“The work and innovation we’re doing at BMP is second to none and we have increased our supplier rating with Hewlett Packard from 85 per cent to 98 per cent.

"This brings me great satisfaction as not only does it service us well as a company, but also adds to the reputation the UK has of being an exceptional manufacturing nation.

“Considering the times we find ourselves living in, giving the best account of what British manufacturing has to offer only serves our industry, as well as the economy, for the better.”

BMP specialises in the manufacture of polyurethanes, technical non-woven textiles and printer modules for a range of large blue-chip clients around the world such as Hewlett-Packard, Bosch, Electrolux and Xerox.

Managing director, Allan Thompson, said: “Since Chris joined us, he has shown outstanding work and dedication and it’s great that he has been recognised in this way by such a prestigious organisation.”

Chris is now the third individual from BMP to be recognised in the Top 100 after Allan Thompson Managing Director and Nigel Bell Quality Assurance Manger were successful last year.
