An East Lancashire mum has gone all out with her Halloween decorations this year after building an incredible 14ft pirate ship in her garden.

Sally Jacks, from Burnley, says she is “bonkers about Halloween” and making lifelong memories for her eight-year-old son, Frankie.

Their front garden is currently home to an incredible Pirates Of The Caribbean-themed display, complete with a homemade 14ft pirate ship.

It was made by Sally and some of her friends and family.

Sally, a television and radio presenter as well as a social media influencer, said: “We started celebrating Halloween since having our son and the displays just keep getting bigger and bigger.

“Last year we transformed the front of the house into a circus tent with our clown-themed decorations.”

This year’s pirate display includes moving skeletons, drinking pirates, cannons that fire puffs of smoke and more.

When you get to the front door there is even a machine that will make a noise and give you a scare.

Weather permitting, Sally is also hoping to have a fire eater come and perform outside the front of the house.

Best of all, Sally said the pirate ship, which took around five days to create, was made on a shoestring budget using mainly donated and charity shop items.

Sally said: “A lot of people look at it and think it has cost a lot of money, we have begged, borrowed and made most of the props.

“The ship was free made from donated wooden pallets wood, the skeletons have been collected over the years, they are dressed in clothes from charity shops.

“I am very crafty and can make things out of bits and pieces.

“The thing I have probably spent the most money is probably the cable ties and the sweets on the night for trick or treaters.”

Sally said the Dovedale Drive house has attracted a lot of attention but says her main aim is to create memories for her child.

She said: “With the current climate and everything so dreary in the news it’s nice to spread some happiness.

“My heart sings because the reaction from people has been so lovely, people are eager to take photos.

“I always tell them to go ahead and take a picture with the drunken pirate.

“Everybody in the area knows about our little house on the corner as we decorate all year around.

"People knock on the door to tell us how nice the house looks, which makes all the hard work seem worthwhile.

“I do this for the memories. I believe that memories should be made. You only live once and I try and make as many memories with my child as possible.

“Frankie is bursting with excitement and can’t wait to come home for his Halloween party after school.”
