A WOMAN called her in-laws for help after her drunken husband brandished a knife during a row over money.

But they called the police and Dominic Walsh, described by his wife as a "good father, husband and provider", ended up spending two days in custody.

Walsh, 25, of Mosley Street, Blackburn, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over in £100 to keep the peace for six months.

Pat Bramley, prosecuting, said when police arrived Walsh was at the foot of the stairs talking to his wife who was upstairs with their 18-month-old child.

"He asked his wife for some money so he could go out, but she refused," said Miss Bramley.

"He picked up a knife and threatened to harm himself, but Mrs Walsh was not concerned that he would harm her."

Deborah Morgan, defending, said the threats her client made were idle ones.
