A Polish immigrant fuelled by vodka and cider assaulted his wife three times in four days, a court was told.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Ivan Suliga had told police her husband, Thomas Suliga, beat her up every day in front of the children.

But she later attended at court and said she wanted her husband back and promised to report any further attacks to the police.

Suliga, 32, of Edith Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to three charges of assault. He was made subject to community supervision for 18 months, with a condition he attends an alcohol awareness programme, ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work and pay £60 costs.
