A THIEF who stole a computer part from a store, thought better of it, went back and handed it to the manager.

Burnley Magistrates heard how Jonathan Allan, 27, thought he was being silly when he took the item from PC World and was arrested after taking it back.

The defendant, of Napier Street, Nelson, admitted theft. He was fined £50, with a £15 victim surcharge. He had 12 previous convictions.

Sara Lyle, defending, said Allan, a trained electrician, had been entrenched in drug use since his mother died 12 months ago. He had received help from the probation service and realised he could make changes.
