The police chief of Lancashire hosted a charity ball raising thousands for a local hospice.
Steve Finnigan, chief constable of Lancashire Constabulary, helped to raise more than £4,150 for St Catherine's Hospice, Lostock Hall, following a Gala Dinner Dance in Blackpool.
The annual event, organised by Lancashire Police Federation and held at the De Vere Herons' Reach Hotel in Blackpool on Saturday, was attended by more than 230 guests from across the county.
Mr Finnigan said: "This was a great celebration event and I am truly delighted that it has raised funds for such a worthy cause as St Catherine's Hospice."
Entertainment was provided by Sean Finch and The Street Band and a charity raffle raised thousands of pounds on the night.
Joe Gibbons, Police Federation secretary said: "I would like to express my gratitude to all of those companies who have been generous in their support of this function.
"St Catherine's Hospice, provides care for people in all sections of the Chorley, Longridge, Preston and South Ribble community at no cost.
"To be able to do this they have to raise £2.7 million this year through fundraising and donations so our support is vital."
John Nickson, head of appeals at the hospice in Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, near Preston, said: "We are extremely grateful to the chief constable for nominating St Catherine's to be the dinner dance's beneficiary, and extend our thanks to the Police Federation and guests for the generous support."
