A TRUCK driver who assaulted his ex-partner and her friend told police he would never hit a woman, a court heard.
Burnley magistrates were told Trevor Dunston, 36, pushed Sarah Strachan against a wall and punched Jason Fallaize repeatedly.
The defendant, of Clifton Street, Burnley, admitted assault and assault by beating. He was given a two-year conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £100 compensation but no costs.
Sophie Lorimer, prosecuting, said Miss Strachan and Mr Fallaize had been out for the evening and were with friends in a pub. The defendant turned up and started arguing.
Miss Strachan and Mr Fallaize went back to her house and a short time later Dunston arrived. A further row erupted and he was asked to leave. Once outside, he banged on the window.
Mrs Lorimer said Miss Strachan went outside to stop the defendant. Dunston punched him in the face four or five times and when Miss Strachan tried to intervene, the defendant pushed her against a wall.
