A BURGLAR jailed for raiding a blind man's home has had his prison term cut after a court got its sums wrong.
Peter Johnson, 35, was last Friday put behind bars for a total of three and a half years after admitting the burglary.
He was also resentenced for community orders earlier imposed for going equipped and resisting police and a 90 day suspended custodial term was also activated.
Judge Andrew Woolman had given Johnson three years for the break-in, but it should have been 20 per cent "discount" off a four year starting point meaning he should have been sentenced to two years eight months.
The judge confirmed the new sentence and asked the defendant's solicitor Richard Taylor to convey the "good news" to him.
The defendant, of Admiral Street, Burnley, had admitted burglary.
Burnley Crown Court had been told how Johnson was caught out after leaving a spot of blood on a pillow after attacking the home of Andrew Sturdy.
Johnson struck whilst the victim, who has a guide dog, was out. He had 17 previous convictions for burgling houses and had also been to jail for drugs offences.
