Former members of the English pop rock group The Beautiful South are performing in Oswaldtwistle next month.

Thirty three years after The Beautiful South released ‘Song For Whoever’, the reformed band The South are keeping their music alive through gigs across the country.

The South are back with a tour playing shows up and down the whole of the UK and one of the stops on the tour is the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre in Oswaldtwistle.

The impressive nine piece band play the songs made famous by The Beautiful South and bring back the full flavour and arrangements with this exciting live band.

The South is made up of former members of The Beautiful South including singer Alison Wheeler and lifelong sax player Gaz Birtles.

Since Dave Hemingway, the original singer, left the group at the end of 2016, Gaz has moved across to front the band with Alison and taken on vocal duties.

After a successful year of touring the theatres and Festivals of the UK up and down the country, The South are keeping alive all those timeless songs.

Fans can expect them to perform the number one single ‘A Little Time’, ‘Perfect 10’, ‘Rotterdam’, ‘Old Red Eyes Is Back’, ‘Good as Gold’, ‘Don't Marry Her’ and so many more singles and album tracks that span an impressive 20 years.

The band will also be treating the audience to some original songs so there’s something for everyone.

The South band members are Alison Wheeler (Vocals), Gaz Birtles (Vocals), Phil Barton (Guitars), Steve Nutter (Bass), Dave Anderson (Drums), Karl Brown (Percussion), Gareth John (Trumpet), Su Robinson (Sax), and Andy Price (Keys).

The show starts at 7:30pm on Thursday, September 8. Tickets cost £23, and are available from the box office or Civic Arts Centre website.
