A blind Shih Tzu that was found in a “terrible state” has been rescued by an East Lancashire RSPCA branch.
Morris, who is thought to be around six-years-old, has been given a temporary home at Altham Animal Centre, near Accrington, until an appropriate owner can be tracked down.
The dog, described as a “sweet and affectionate boy”, was found with “completely matted fur” that fully covered his face.
Upon further inspection, RSPCA staff realised that Morris was blind and also had glaucoma in his right eye resulting in it needing to be surgically removed.
He suffers with dry eye in his remaining eye which requires him to have drops administered two or three times each day.
The lovable pooch was placed in a temporary foster home in order to “recover from his traumas” and is now looking for his forever home.
His foster mum said: “He did urinate in the house initially, but after he had scented everywhere and he settled down and felt safe he stopped doing this.”
She added that he “loves cuddling up on the sofa” and has fallen in love with his dog brush which he loved to chew.
Morris is looking to be an only pet and is able to live with children aged five and up.
Some dog-lovers have already expressed interest in adopting Morris but a definite owner is yet to be confirmed.
