Two guinea pigs are looking for a home after being abandoned outside an animal sanctuary during last week's England and Germany match.

Staff at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Ramsbottom found the animals in a shoe box in the rescue’s donation shed on June 29.

They have been named Sterling and Kane in recognition of the two scorers in the match, Raheem and Harry. They are aged about one and appear to be brothers.

The sanctuary is now hoping that somebody will adopt the pair to a loving, quiet home.

A staff member at the sanctuary said: “They are lovely. When we did the vet check after they arrived, they were in good health.

“We found they were quite scared but they have perked up a lot now.

“They have only been with us for a short time but they would be better with a quiet home.”

If you can help them, please email the rescue centre at farm@bleakholt.org
