THE ashes of a soldier killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident will be buried tomorrow.
Lance Bombardier Brett Walmsley, 25, of Greenway Street, was struck by a car when he was crossing a country road in Halkidiki on July 13.
He was given a funeral with full military honours by fellow soldiers from the 47th Royal Artillery regi-ment at the end of July.
After the funeral service Brett was cremated.
His parents Stuart and Olwen Walmsley have kept his ashes at the family home but have now decided to bury then in Darwen Cemetery.
Stuart said: "We have been waiting for people to come back from holidays so we can bury Brett's ashes.
"My wife and I will be attending, Brett's brothers and sisters and his girlfriend."
Brett had been on a break from serving six months in Kosovo at the time of the accident Stuart said: "Everyone has been brilliant, the army have been very supportive and they keep us informed about the investigation.
The army have said they will be planting a dedication willow to him at his base."
A 22-year-old Greek man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
